Framing the Issues

MNCs face an increasingly difficult operating environment in China. In particular, on the Sino-western regulatory front, MNCs have an increasingly difficult middle ground to navigate. However, climate transition – and sustainability more broadly – is one area where key incentives appear to be aligning positively, from firm-level to policy-level. Western MNCs should embrace climate transition as a primary strategic value proposition for China business development and government affairs.
