Leveraging the Climate Transition Value Proposition - Workshop Deck Section 4

July 03, 2022 | Report

Carbon Offset Markets

Carbon offsetting is a mechanism that allows an entity to compensate for its residual and hard-to-abate GHG emissions. While China’s mandatory carbon offset market is largely focused domestic enterprises, its voluntary market, once it relaunches, has the potential to grow rapidly and provide an avenue for MNC engagement in national carbon trading. Through project development and carefully selected offset portfolios, MNCs can positively contribute to China’s voluntary carbon market and the improvement of offset quality.
