In this model, intelligent agents go beyond automation to execute transactions, manage interactions, and adapt in real time across the value chain, operating with context, goals, and a high degree of autonomy.
This report introduces a-commerce as a framework for understanding how agentic AI is reshaping commerce at enterprise scale. Drawing on insights from the C-Suite Outlook 2026, it examines how senior leaders are preparing for a future in which autonomous agents fundamentally change strategy, operating models, and sources of competitive advantage.
An earlier version of the 2026 C-Suite Outlook report contained an error in the analysis of responses related to priorities for AI. The updated report reflects the accurate findings. The correction results in a revised interpretation of how executives view their relative approaches to AI. We regret the error and appreciate the opportunity to ensure the integrity of the research.
