Interim CEO: Reasonable Choice or Failed Selection?

There are a number of reasons why a company may wish to appoint an interim CEO instead of immediately naming a permanent successor. However, doing so may cause uncertainty among internal and external stakeholders. This report examines the reactions to and antecedents and consequences of interim CEO selection to provide boards the evidence needed to make informed decisions about the designation of an interim CEO.
