So far in 2018, corporate citizenship professionals have dealt with several serious issues not usually addressed by companies. Gun violence tops the list. We have seen employees, consumers, and other stakeholders react not only to recent horrific events, but a young generation demanding change, evidenced by this week’s upcoming March for Our Lives.
We have also witnessed an increase in natural disasters, as hurricanes, fires, floods and earthquakes compete for the limited available corporate resources. All three of our Corporate Citizenship & Philanthropy Councils will meet jointly next month in Washington, DC, to discuss the subject of disasters, from mitigation and preparedness to relief, recovery, and rebuilding The discussions will be enriched by Council data and summaries. If you would like information about membership in one of our councils, please contact Stephen.Knight@conference-board.org.
A reminder: the Giving in Numbers 2018 survey, conducted by CECP in association with The Conference Board, is open until March 30, 2018. The annual survey is the leading industry tool for corporate societal engagement professionals. Click here to read more. Many of us use this data regularly. The more companies that participate, the better information we will have to further our work.
