As the sustainability landscape becomes increasingly complex due to shifts in stakeholder attitudes and the political and legal environment, marketers and communicators play a key role in shaping how companies communicate their environmental and social sustainability programs. It is vital for chief marketing officers (CMOs) and chief communication officers (CCOs) to stay attuned to their audiences’ opinions and think holistically about business implications of their sustainability agenda. They also need to think long term should cultural winds change again. This is a conclusion from C-Suite Outlook 2025: Seizing the Future, based on the perspectives of 1,722 C-Suite executives, including 508 CEOs and 288 CMOs/CCOs.
