CED Welcomes Tentative Agreement on Averting the Rail Strike
Latest Press Release
Today, Dr. Lori Esposito Murray, President of the Committee for Economic Development, the public policy center of The Conference Board (CED), released the following statement:
“CED welcomes the tentative agreement reached by the freight rail companies and representatives of the unions averting a rail strike. Freight rail is essential to the daily workings of the economy and to economic growth. At a time of decades-high inflation, tight supply chains, and a looming recession, a rail strike would harm our economy and the lives and work of millions of Americans. We commend both sides negotiating in good faith, following the recommendations of the President’s Emergency Board, to avoid a strike. We urge the unions to ratify the agreement swiftly, so the nation can get back to the business of economic recovery from the multiple, disruptive shocks.”
