The Future of Work After COVID-19

The pandemic's wide-ranging effects on the labor market will persist well beyond 2021. New ways of conducting business via remote work and videoconferencing are here to stay for large workforce segments. And several trends that were already apparent, including the growth of e-commerce and automation, were only accelerated by the pandemic. These trends will impact the industry and occupation mix of employment, with lower-skill workers at particular risk of changing occupations.

In this webcast, McKinsey and TCB will present research on the lasting effects of the pandemic on labor demand and workers' skill acquisition. The will also discuss how companies and policymakers can respond to the changing nature of work and facilitate a seamless transition to a more productive and equitable labor market.

As an attendee of this webcast, you will be able to answer the following questions:

  • How many jobs are at risk of being automated? Which industries and occupations are likely to more quickly adopt automation technology?
  • To what extent will remote work persist after the pandemic? What are the labor market effects of businesses replacing travel with videoconferencing?
  • How many workers will need to change occupations to respond to companies' changing skill demands? And how can companies and policymakers help workers acquire newly in-demand skills?

Who Should Attend: Executives with strategic responsibilities, especially in HR, finance, and strategy, as well as economists.
