Corporate profits should, in principle, be taxed where they are generated, but when it comes to multi-national companies this simple principle is hard to apply. Policy makers are reacting to emerging issues with initiatives such as the OECD Multilateral Instrument against BEPS (Base erosion and profit shifting).
In this webcast Ilaria Maselli Senior Economist at The Conference Board and Dominic Mathon Head of Group Taxation at RELX will discuss this from the point of view of: the state, corporate sector, NGOs and academics. They will evaluate the development of statutory and implicit tax rates in the EU over the last 20 years, and provide an overview on the different perspectives of this complex and heavily debated subject.
- Insights on the meaning and relevance of "responsible tax"
- Perspectives: government, business, academics and NGOs
- Current approaches and initiatives on current practices
