The Conference Board

Mary Slaughter is a Distinguished Principal Research Fellow for the Human Capital Center at The Conference Board. In her role, she focuses on the global trends driving the evolution of HR, including labor market shifts, workforce expectations, emerging technologies, as well as the skills and capabilities required to excel as a CHRO.

 Mary is a seasoned corporate executive, human capital consultant, and published author. Her global enterprise roles have included chief people officer, chief learning officer, chief talent officer, chief diversity & inclusion officer, global head of consulting, and global head of employee experience and communications. She has worked for notable brands including AT&T, Lucent Technologies, Wachovia, SunTrust, Morningstar, The NeuroLeadership Institute, North Highland, Deloitte, and EY. Across her career, she has led large-scale HR transformations including culture and values alignment, leadership development and succession planning, growth through innovation, enterprise learning architecture redesign, and enterprise system implementations.

 She is also an executive coach, podcaster, and regular industry speaker. Her advisory roles have included working with the Association for Training DevelopmentBoard of Directors,The Conference Board Council on Learning, Development & Organizational Performance, and George Mason University’s Chief Learning Officer Program. She holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology and chemistry from Austin Peay State University, a master’s degree in communications from Georgia State University, and a certification from Emory University as an executive coach.
