Jacqueline E. Brevard is the Program Director for the Global Business Conduct Council, and the Co-Program Director for the Chief Legal Officer Council where she provides leadership, guidance, and intellectual direction, working with the Councils’ executive committees to design meeting agendas, select speakers, and support benchmarking and sharing of best practices.
Ms. Brevard brings more than 20 years of experience as a global ethics and compliance professional in the pharmaceutical industry. She is Senior Advisor at GEC Risk Advisory, a global risk, governance, ethics, compliance, cyber, and crisis advisory firm, serving executives, boards, investors, and advisors to business, nonprofits, and government. Ms. Brevard is also a Senior Advisor to the Ethics and Compliance Initiative (ECI), acting as subject matter expert on a variety of engagements. Previously Ms. Brevard was Vice President, Chief Ethics and Compliance Officer of Merck & Co., Inc., developing and successfully implementing the first comprehensive global ethics and compliance program for a top-tier global pharmaceutical company, driving Merck to a leadership position in organizational ethics and compliance. Ms. Brevard also implemented one of the first companywide “Speak Up” programs in corporate America.Prior to her appointment as Merck’s first Chief Ethics and Compliance Officer, Ms. Brevard was an international, transactional attorney at Merck having completed projects in Latin America, Asia-Pacific, Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.
Ms. Brevard also serves as Emeritus Vice Chair on the Board of Directors for the former Ethics and Compliance Officer Association, now the Ethics and Compliance Initiative (ECI), and Chaired the ECI Fellows Program. She has served as a member of the faculty for the Leading Professional in Ethics and Compliance (LPEC) certification program at ECI, a member of the Advisory Board of the Institute for Ethical Leadership at Rutgers University, and an Adjunct Faculty member at New York University and Glasgow Caledonian University (NYC). She is currently a member of the Advisory Board of the Healthcare Group Purchasing Industry Initiative (HGPII) and Chair of the Board of Directors of the International Business Ethics Institute. Reflecting Ms. Brevard’s influence in the field, she was cited by Ethisphere magazine in 2009 as “One of the 100 Most Influential People in Business Ethics.” Ms. Brevard received a JD from Rutgers University School of Law and an LLM in International Law from New York University School of Law.
