Mary Slaughter is the Program Director for the Talent Management Leaders Council. She also advises The Conference Board as a Distinguished Principal Research Fellow in the Human Capital Center.

A seasoned corporate executive, human capital consultant, and published author, Mary has held many global enterprise roles, including Chief People Officer, Chief Learning Officer, Chief Talent Officer, Chief Diversity & Inclusion Officer, Global Head of Consulting, Global Head of Employee Experience, and Global Head of Employee Communications. In addition to consulting with Fortune 100 firms on their people agendas, Mary has worked for such notable brands as AT&T, Lucent Technologies, Wachovia, SunTrust, Morningstar, NeuroLeadership Institute, North Highland, Deloitte, and EY.

Across her career, she has led large-scale transformations in learning, sales operations, and broader HR, including strategic mandates for global expansion, revenue growth, operational excellence, efficiency gains, and technology enhancements.  

A frequent industry speaker, Mary has been featured in Harvard Business Review, Business Insider, PwC’s strategy+business, Fast Company, Quartz, Talent Management, T+D, CLO, Selling Power, and Consulting magazines. She’s the co-author of Learning that CLICS: Using Behavioral Science for Effective Design. As a regular contributor to Reworked magazine, her articles are widely read and shared. Over the last few years, she’s served as advisor to early-stage companies on their business development approaches to human capital leaders. As an executive coach, she specializes in enabling senior leadership impact and guiding high performing teams.

Mary holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology and chemistry from Austin Peay State University, a master’s degree in communications from Georgia State University, and a certification from Emory University as an executive coach. Mary is a private pilot and an accomplished musician, serving on the board of directors for Atlanta Master Chorale.
