Barbara Lombardo is a Distinguished Principal Research Fellow in Human Capital and Program Director at The Conference Board. She has focused her career on the business of education, learning, and talent. In addition to her work at The Conference Board, Barbara is Principal of Bergamot Consulting LLC, her independent consulting practice dedicated to helping organizations define their strategy and develop their talent.
She brings to her work more than 26 years of management consulting and leadership experience at global firms including KPMG, PwC, IBM Global Business Services, and Huron Consulting Group. While at IBM, she served as the Global Leader for Learning Solutions, and the North America Leader for the Talent & Change Consulting Practice. Barbara has written and spoken on a wide range of human capital topics including creative leadership, the intergenerational workforce, and learning in virtual worlds.
She is also the creator of hercareerstory.com, a website sharing stories of women navigating career crossroads. Barbara has a lifelong commitment to education and nonprofit institutions. She began her career in the nonprofit and education consulting practice of KPMG, was an adjunct professor of nonprofit management at Lewis & Clark College and Portland State University, member of the board of trustees of Lafayette College, and trustee and board chair of The Montgomery School in Chester Springs, PA. She currently chairs the board of the Gateway to College National Network.
Barbara received her MBA and Ph.D. degrees from the Haas School of Business, the University of California, Berkeley, with a focus on business & public policy. She graduated summa cum laude from Lafayette College with a degree in economics & business.
