Many organizations are under pressure to show that they have a coherent plan for using internet technologies. In the area of e-procurement, organizations have been led to expect huge benefits. Even though their e-procurement projects may still be in the pilot phase, many are already feeling let down and are accusing management consultants and technology providers of overstating the business case for e-procurement. For the global organizations profiled in this survey, however, saving a few percentage points on an annual purchasing spend of billions of dollars is a worthwhile return.
