Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism: Is China's Supply Chain at Risk?

The Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) is a carbon tariff imposed by the European Union on imported carbon-intensive products. It will enter into force this October. Companies that supply to Europe and are covered by the CBAM will face not only the cost of carbon certificates, but the administrative burden around reporting the carbon content of products, buying required certificates, and submitting proof of carbon tax paid abroad. They are likely to share this burden with their supply partners.

As the world’s largest exporter, many MNCs with operations or suppliers in China will be directly or indirectly impacted by the CBAM.

Join us as we explain what the CBAM is all about and discuss the implications for businesses operating in China.

By attending this webcast, viewers will be able to answer these important questions:

  • What is the CBAM, why is it being introduced, and how will it work?
  • What are the potential impacts of the CBAM on cross-border supply chains?
  • How does China’s government perceive the CBAM, and how might it respond?
  • What are positive and negative impacts of the CBAM on export-dependent industries in China?
  • How can MNCs prepare themselves for the CBAM?
