Role of Child Care in Economic Development

The decision of families to participate in the workforce depends on access and availability of quality child care. Child care provides an important infrastructure that supports working parents as well as the productivity of the economy. There is no single solution to solving the challenges of child care provision, especially following the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the industry. It will require both a public and private partnership approach. Business leaders have an important perspective to contribute to problem solving in the sector and serving as a key stakeholder in policy and practice at the regional level.
