Lessons Learned From One of Last Year's Most-Watched Transactions

Since the pandemic began, few deals captured the headlines like the planned $30 billion merger of Aon and Willis Towers Watson. Initially, its size, value creation, and transformative impact had the potential to create the world’s largest insurance broker. Eventually it garnered the spotlight due to the resulting regulatory scrutiny from the U.S. Department of Justice. Aon’s Eric Andersen guided the organization through this 15-month journey and will share his unique perspective from the top. He will reflect on the decisions he needed to make, the lessons learned, and what — in hindsight — he might have done differently. Topics will include: overall strategy, stakeholder management and engagement, prioritization of resources, integration planning, when to decide to stop the deal, and how to maintain business momentum after a deal is terminated.
