Inflation appears on the horizon as the economic outlook for the Euro Area economy moderates. Core inflation in May increased to 1.5 percent, but the producer price index indicates that the pricing power of firms is low. The combination of rising inflation with pressure on producer prices may squeeze companies’ profits.
