Why Child Care Matters: Preparing Young Children for a More Productive America

/ Report

As an organization that has long recognized the importance of human resource development to the nation’s economic competitiveness, CED believes that our country’s response to its child care needs has important implications for both the current and the future productivity of its labor force.

Why Child Care Matters examines the critical role that child care plays in the way an increasing number of children are growing, learning, and preparing for school and for life. Of course parents have the primary responsibility for their children’s care. But as a society, we all benefit when children have high-quality care in their earliest years that will help them succeed in school and later as citizens and workers.
