Euro Area recovery continues but at a more moderate pace

On the back of concerns about global growth, vulnerabilities in the banking sector, and the prospects of more negative policy rates, Europe’s major equity markets have been very volatile since the start of the year. Market volatility hurt sentiment and banks’ willingness to lend, though both remain at relatively high levels currently. Retail sales and car registrations remain on firm footing, while PMIs remain broadly positive and the labor market sees further improvements
