The results of our recent survey on how companies and their employee PACs are responding to the January 6th Capitol riot and objections to the certification of the Presidential election reveal the unprecedented nature of the moment: almost 90% of the respondents’ corporate PACs had not broadly suspended or cancelled contributions in the past five years.
The findings, featured in today’s Financial Times, reveal the range of responses by corporate PACs: at one end, 3% decided to cancel permanently contributions to the objectors; at the other end, 19% affirmatively decided that they would not respond at all. In the middle, 28% temporarily suspended contributions to all federal lawmakers, 12% temporarily suspended contributions to the objectors, and 11% suspended contributions for the objectors but don’t know for how long; and the others don’t have a PAC or
