Women account for only about 10 percent of board directors in Europe’s top 300 companies and more than two-thirds of the 101 largest firms have no women on their executive committees. With voluntary measures to close the gender gap making little progress, quotas are spreading across Europe as a means to increase women’s representation on corporate boards and executive teams.
