The Conference Board Economics Watch® European View

Europe continues to make small steps toward sustained financial stability, but growth remains muted. The Euro Area is likely to continue on a slow growth path in 2014. Several important economic factors have not yet recovered, however, indicating that the economic environment remains recessionary. Investment in the Euro Area is still weak due to continued uncertainty in the banking sector, which is curbing recovery prospects. Export growth is a potential upside for the economy, but weak emerging markets remain a drag on the outlook for global trade.
