By Gad Levanon, PhD, Robin Erickson, PhD, and Elizabeth Crofoot at The Conference Board There are many anecdotes in the media today of employers across a range of industries wanting to hire more people, but not being able to find them: trucking companies facing driver shortages, retailers and restaurants being short-staffed, and construction companies and manufacturers encountering a limited supply of skilled or STEM-educated applicants. The Conference Board has been reporting on labor market shortages for the past 5 years. Labor shortages are now a reality, not just a prediction. With unemployment at historic lows and Baby Boomers retiring in hordes, companies are struggling to recruit and retain workers. We have been asked many times: What should our company do? How can we find the talent we need at reasonable cost? How do we retain our current employees? To help answer these pressing questions, we’d appreciate your participation in The Conference Board's first-ever Labor Shortages Solutions Survey. This 15-minute survey, covering both recruitment and retention solutions, is targeted to hiring managers and directors or talent management professionals in your organization. Click this link or paste the URL into your internet browser: http://tcb.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_3ZT822OEcth3jxz What’s in it for me? By taking our 15-minute survey, your input will assist us in developing valuable insights on how companies are attracting talent. We realize that the time investment is significant, but we think that you will learn some potential solutions just by participating in the survey. In addition, you will receive a complimentary copy of the final report (a $695 value) and a complimentary registration to a special webcast about the survey results (a $300 value) as a thank you for completion. Please complete the survey by Friday, June 14th, 2019. Your participation is voluntary and strictly confidential, and results will only be shared in aggregate. If you have any questions, please reach out to elizabeth.crofoot@tcb.org.
