The Society for New Communications Research of The Conference Board (SNCR) has published its latest SNCR 2020 article, "Symptoms, Causes, and Solutions to Silicon Valley's Disinformation Problem." Authored by SNCR Advisory Board member, Thomas Stoeckle, this piece takes a closer look at the layers of issues that have thrust young tech giants into the spotlight recently. Silicon Valley is facing a disinformation problem that is poisoning the infosphere, creating filter bubbles and echo chambers, feeding polarization and entrenchment, and resulting in the misuse of data to shape political debates through military-grade psychological operations, manipulation, and propaganda. All the above are symptoms of disinformation and we need to get to the root causes if we want to cure them.
