Putting aside the critical question of whether China would opt for military action against Taiwan even as a last resort, and what conditions might precipitate such a desperate decision, any Chinese timeline for a forceful reunification of Taiwan will likely depend on three factors, as outlined in the report.  

  1. China's military readiness and confidence in an invasion scenario.
  2. US and global resolve to support Taiwan.
  3. The economic costs of sanctions.
