An essential capstone of any policy designed to support the mental health and well-being of employees is to create an ongoing dialogue between the company and the individual that facilitates disclosure and enables the company to provide tailored and effective interventions that will aid recovery from one-off or ongoing episodes of ill health.
Line managers play a critical role in initiating and managing this dialogue. Yet practical experience demonstrates that line managers often lack the training and know-how to play this important role and, indeed, frequently feel helpless in responding effectively to disclosures of mental ill health by the employees in their care.
In this webcast, we will discuss championing and implementing policies that support line managers in initiating and managing this dialogue as well as outline what skills are involved and how they can be inculcated in performing this role.
