Since assuming command of the Communist Party of China (CCP) in late 2012, Xi Jinping has overseen one of the most fundamental transformations of the party in at least three decades. From organization to ideology, from the policy-making process to the incentives now influencing party cadres, this wholesale restructuring will have far-reaching implications not only for Chinese society, but also for the global community. In this Quick Note, we build on our previously released “Party over Government” thesis to look at “re-forms” to the CCP’s structure and behavior since 2012, what this reinvigorated CCP will mean for MNCs in the coming years, and how MNCs can adapt to this new reality.
