What's Next for 21st-Century HR? Daiichi Sankyo: Transforming US R&D HR to Deliver Strategic Value to the Global Business

Like other pharmaceuticals companies, Daiichi Sanko’s R&D business increasingly uses cross-functional teams to bring new drugs to the marketplace. But the company had no HR strategic agenda to support this way of working. HR worked to redefine roles and responsibilities within cross-functional teams, improve leadership and coordination of teams, and manage the team life cycle from inception to disbandment, including midcourse adjustments. These initiatives helped build respect for US R&D HR and break the pattern of US R&D HR solely providing administrative functions for managers.
