Monthly updates on the state of the economy in emerging markets

The Conference Board Economics Watch® Emerging Markets View

May 09, 2018 | Report

Leading indicators suggest emerging markets’ business cycles remain in the expansion territory, but risks may be rising. Consumption growth in China, which supported growth in the first quarter, is likely to continue, but the recent pickup in investment is less likely to continue in the rest of 2018. Investment growth did revive in India as well and is likely to support growth. Yet, challenges to macroeconomic fundaments are likely to limit growth momentum.
