Prioritize Executive Coaching to Prepare Leaders

CEOs need leaders who can lead in a hybrid, digitally enabled, socially influenced workplace. They face a key question: how does my organization ensure that our leaders are ready to do this?

As a first step, CEOs can take a proactive approach to redefining and transforming the mindset and behaviors of leaders—their ability to confidently manage change, make accurate decisions under pressure, and effectively communicate across different mediums. Many organizations recognize that leaders today require the targeted developmental opportunities coaching offers. Organizations should refocus and prioritize investments in executive coaching to prepare leaders with strong, future-oriented skills.

Insights for What’s Ahead

  1. In the next few years companies will need to increase internal and external training to catch up from the pandemic lull. This will be necessary to get leadership capabilities back up to prepandemic levels and beyond to prepare for future innovation and growth. Many organizations reduced investment on external coaching initiatives during the pandemic. Cost reduction may have been necessary for many organizations struggling to reach financial goals, but cutting coaching from the budget may prove to be shortsighted. Organizations have a greater need now for leaders at all levels who can act quickly and decisively, while adequately supporting their teams and meeting organizational goals.
