Mastercard Vice Chairman and President Mike Froman Discusses Financial Inclusiveness and Economic Opportunity
Mike Froman, Vice Chairman and President, Strategic Growth for Mastercard, speaks about issues of economic opportunity, diversity and inclusiveness in the wake of the death of George Floyd and the disproportionate impact of COVID-19 on African Americans.
In a conversation with Bart Van Ark, Executive Vice President and Global Chief Economist at The Conference Board, Froman highlights Mastercard’s approach to racial equity and the tangible steps they’ve taken to foster financial inclusion on a global scale.
“It was a recognition that as a global company, we thrive when economies thrive, and the only really truly sustainable form of growth is inclusive growth,” Froman said. He goes on to discuss the broader shift he has seen take place in the corporate landscape: “Companies are understanding that they operate in a social environment and need to focus on their social impact as part of achieving long-term shareholder value.”
