The United Kingdom’s decision to exit the European Union presents China with a variety of challenges. Disruptions to China’s foreign trade, FDI flows, currency stability, and geo-economic ambitions are probable. China necessarily benefits when Western strength is diminished, and solidarity is an important component of collective strength and market power; but it is highly vested in the existing global economic order and would not benefit from the volatility, fragmentation, or protectionism that Brexit may deliver.
