Just What Is the Corporate Director's Job? Academia's Perspectives on the Board Member's Job Description

The latest installment of the Just What Is the Corporate Director's Job? series presents the perspective of academia from a roundtable held at The Conference Board in January, 2018. We asked participants to consider how the role of the director has evolved and where gaps in understanding have resulted in conflict. Our goal is to provide direction to corporate directors and foster a common understanding of how to view the job of the corporate director. Among the findings: academia plays a role in shaping the board’s job by unveiling empirical evidence of distorted behaviors, conflicts of interests, and inefficiencies.
