From Pandemic Downturn to Growth Revival
The Gulf economies endured a second oil shock in less than a decade that eroded a substantial share of the region’s government financial buffers. The region is in dire need of a transition toward a more sustainable and diversified economy, especially in light of the ongoing global shift toward clean and renewable energy. The changing energy demand backdrop suggests greater investment in innovation, private enterprise, and private employment, and less reliance on public spending.
