The first wave of COVID-19's impact on hiring

Employers began cutting back on hiring in March and early April, but some sectors show deeper cuts than others. As expected, food services, lodging and travel, passenger transportation, and sales-related occupations show the steepest drops. But the data also shows a surprisingly large drop in hiring for several health, education, and office and clerical occupations.  Even in the current crisis however, hiring for some occupations is expanding, including those in health and food deliveries
