Pioneering a New Approach to Career Management

As part of its commitment to embracing strengths-based talent activation and creating a culture within which each person counts, ADP has implemented StandOut, a technology platform designed to help team leaders build highly engaged, productive teams. 

One of the features of StandOut is weekly check-ins which provide an opportunity for all associates to reflect on their past week at work and look forward to the week ahead, including a quick light-touch conversation with their leader with an emphasis on their strengths—those activities they both excel at and love doing. These weekly check-ins create a gateway to broader career conversations that empower associates to explore and chart their own career paths.

Driven by mandates for high retention and engagement which are so critical in the competitive market for talent, ADP’s HR leadership team recognized the need to revisit and revise some of their traditional approaches to career and performance management. First, they recognized that their historical focus on assessing associate potential, using the nine-box model, had multiple areas of opportunity, including:
