Among economies in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), the Gulf economies have done well weathering the uncertainty roiling the global environment. Strong oil prices and ambitious investment plans promise to continue to support solid growth. For the oil importing economies, conditions are more challenging as tightening financial conditions and slowing global growth are putting a strain on external and fiscal positions and economic activity.
