Diversity in Clinical Trials: Addressing Health Equity

Patient outcomes vary widely depending on access, affordability, and importantly, the existence of quality clinical research focused on what works for different patients. Unfortunately, underserved communities and vulnerable populations are often underrepresented in clinical research. As pharmaceutical treatments become more individualized, the need for participation from these communities increases exponentially. Diversity in clinical trials significantly improves patient outcomes and the physician experience, providing a pathway to advancing health equity.

This webcast will highlight the role healthcare and DEI leaders can play in improving healthcare outcomes for diverse populations.  Then, continue the conversation on the Human Capital Center Community Healthcare Forum, where we host meaningful discussions on topics of interest to human capital leaders in the healthcare industry.

Topic Discussions:

  • The public health issue underlying the lack of diversity in clinical trials: It is imperative that individuals in clinical trials represent the underserved and most vulnerable populations, especially given the varying racial and ethnic responses to medicines and the movement towards individualized drug treatments. Learn why it is important to address this inequity and the role that DEI leaders should play.

  • How to design inclusive participation in clinical trials: Gain valuable insights on how to design a formalized approach to diversity, inclusion, and health equity inclusion in clinical trials. Learn how to mitigate the challenges and barriers industries, healthcare systems, practitioners, and—most importantly—patients are facing in their ability and willingness to participate in clinical trials.

  • The leadership challenge:  Learn about “next practices” based on current research and what forward-thinking leaders, organizations, and practitioners are doing to visibly demonstrate commitment to the development of scientific leadership for the 21st century.

Who Should Attend: Executives in business and public health strategy, Human Resources, DEI (Diversity, Equity and Inclusion), innovation, and related roles.
