Beyond Compliance: Maximizing the Opportunities of the CSDDD

July 25, 2024 10:30 AM ET - 12:00 PM ET | Hybrid Meeting

In a recent roundtable poll of ESG executives, 60% estimated that the total cost of complying with the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) will be upwards of $250,000, with 31% estimating it will cost more than $1 million. With the approval of the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD) on May 24 by the Council of the European Union, many US companies will now be subject to an additional regulatory and financial challenge.

Nearly 900 non-EU companies will need to comply with the CSDDD, which requires companies to identify and address adverse human rights and environmental impacts throughout their operations and value chains – even as they need to develop new processes to comply with the CSRD’s separate reporting requirements relating to their value chains.

This Roundtable will focus on what steps US companies should take to comply with the CSDDD – and how they can proactively seize opportunities presented by requisite conversations with upstream and downstream business partners. We will discuss:

  • Update on the CSDDD and its compliance timelines
  • How companies are preparing for compliance with the CSDDD, and how they can coordinate and reconcile the due diligence required under the CSRD and the CSDDD
  • The key questions and challenges companies face in the process
  • Progress made by EU-based companies to comply with the CSDDD and best practices they can share with their US counterparts

The session will occur both virtually and in-person at The Conference Board (845 Third Avenue, New York, NY 10022).
